For the Level 1 cache paramaters:

This page:

says the default for level 1 cache is 'Weak' -

"weak - uses a weak reference backing map. If JVM garbage collection clears the reference, then the object is removed from the cache. This is the default Level 1 Cache"

This page:

says the default for the level 1 cache is 'Soft' -

datanucleus.cache.level1.type

Default removed from cache pages in 2.2 and 3.0
