Support "count" query for obtaining size of JDOQL results for large result sets

Created: 01/Aug/08 07:35 AM   Updated: 22/Sep/08 02:05 PM   Resolved: 01/Aug/08 07:56 AM
Component/s: Queries
Affects Version/s: None
Fix Version/s: 1.0.0.m4

 Description  « Hide
When we have a large result set, it would be beneficial to allow a query
SELECT count(this) FROM ...
to get the number of results for a query. Saves loading up instances

SVN trunk supports query extension "datanucleus.query.resultSizeMethod" value of "count" and will perform a count() query to get the size rather than navigating to the last object (and instantiating all in the process!)
